John Evans, American, b. 1945, Mt. Vernon, New York
John Evans’s landscapes seek to emulate the firsthand experience of being in a landscape, rather than recreating it. Through mottled paint and irregular depths, he draws the viewer in to reveal landscapes that allude to a greater natural order, with representational elements merging into abstract passages.
